Kuwait Red Crescent Society Mobilizes 100 Volunteers for Ramadan: Enhancing Worship Experience at the Grand Mosque
March 21, 2025
As the holy month of Ramadan unfolds, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has launched a significant initiative to support worshippers at Kuwait’s Grand Mosque. The organization has mobilized 100 male and female volunteers to assist in organizing Qiyam prayers and providing essential services during the last ten days of Ramadan. This initiative aims to ensure a smooth and comfortable worship experience for thousands of devotees gathering at the mosque to observe this sacred time.
KRCS’s volunteer program reflects its strong commitment to humanitarian service and fostering a sense of unity among the community. Chairman Ambassador Khaled Al-Mughamis highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating that volunteer work not only contributes to societal development but also strengthens national identity and solidarity. By engaging in such efforts, volunteers gain a deeper understanding of the values of compassion and service, which lie at the heart of Ramadan’s spiritual significance.
A Well-Coordinated Volunteer Effort
To ensure efficient crowd management and provide necessary assistance, KRCS volunteers have been strategically stationed both inside and outside the Grand Mosque. Their responsibilities include offering first aid, guiding worshippers, and assisting the elderly and individuals with special needs. Equipped with first aid kits containing essential medical supplies, volunteers are prepared to handle minor medical concerns on-site. In case of emergencies, they facilitate the quick transfer of individuals to nearby clinics for further medical attention.
In collaboration with the Grand Mosque administration and relevant government entities, KRCS ensures that all volunteers are well-trained and capable of managing large crowds efficiently. Before deployment, the volunteers attend training sessions covering first aid techniques, emergency response, and effective communication strategies. They are also provided with guidebooks detailing the best practices for assisting worshippers and handling unforeseen situations.
Special Assistance for the Elderly and People with Special Needs
One of the key aspects of this initiative is the special attention given to elderly worshippers and individuals with disabilities. Volunteers are positioned at designated areas to offer direct assistance, including helping people navigate the mosque’s premises, providing wheelchairs when needed, and ensuring they have a comfortable space for prayers. By prioritizing accessibility, KRCS reaffirms its commitment to inclusivity and care for all members of society.
KRCS’s Broader Humanitarian Efforts During Ramadan
In addition to facilitating worship at the Grand Mosque, KRCS has been actively engaged in several humanitarian programs during Ramadan. In March 2024, the society distributed 33,000 iftar meals to underprivileged families across Kuwait, ensuring that those in need could partake in the traditional breaking of the fast. This large-scale meal distribution program was conducted in partnership with local charities, reinforcing the spirit of giving and social cohesion during the holy month.
Internationally, KRCS has extended its humanitarian efforts beyond Kuwait’s borders. Recognizing the hardships faced by displaced Palestinians, the society recently provided 30,000 warm meals to individuals in southern Gaza. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to support Palestinian families struggling with economic hardships and displacement, particularly during Ramadan when the need for food security is heightened.
Collaborations and Corporate Partnerships
To maximize its impact, KRCS frequently collaborates with corporate partners and nonprofit organizations. In April 2023, Alghanim Industries joined hands with KRCS for a Ramadan donation drive, contributing food packages and essential household appliances to underserved families in Kuwait. Such partnerships enable KRCS to expand its reach and provide substantial aid to more individuals in need.
The organization also works closely with local businesses, government agencies, and international relief organizations to coordinate emergency responses and long-term support programs. Through these collaborations, KRCS not only addresses immediate needs but also strengthens the infrastructure for sustained humanitarian efforts.
Embodying the Spirit of Ramadan Through Service
The mobilization of 100 volunteers for Ramadan services at the Grand Mosque is just one of many ways KRCS embodies the true essence of the holy month—compassion, generosity, and unity. By dedicating time and effort to ensure that worshippers can perform their prayers in a peaceful and well-organized environment, KRCS fosters a sense of community and mutual care.
As Ramadan progresses, the selfless efforts of KRCS volunteers continue to enhance the spiritual experience for thousands of worshippers. Their work not only supports the practical needs of the congregation but also serves as a reminder of the power of humanitarianism in bringing people together during this sacred time. Through initiatives like these, KRCS reaffirms its role as a pillar of support for both the local and international community, upholding the values of service and charity that define the essence of Ramadan.
