Growing up in the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi, surrounded by music, concerts, and the rhythms of a live band, Allan Fernando, famously known as DJ Mytee A, always knew his life would revolve around music. Born into a family with strong musical roots, Allan’s story is one of passion, resilience, and chasing dreams against all odds.
Inspired by a Musical Bloodline
Music runs deep in Allan’s veins. His father, a talented guitarist and lead performer in his own band, was a household name in Abu Dhabi’s music scene. From a young age, Allan would attend his father’s shows, watch him electrify audiences, and soak in the magic of live performances. These early experiences planted the seeds of a dream that would grow stronger with time.
“It was never a question for me,” Allan recalls. “I grew up watching my dad perform on stage, and I knew I wanted to be part of that world. Music was everywhere in our home. My childhood was made up of guitars, sound systems, and unforgettable gigs.”
A Young Dreamer with a Big Vision
Being a Sri Lankan raised in the Middle East, Allan felt a burning desire to put his island nation on the map in the music world. He started DJing at a young age, playing at private parties, local gatherings, and eventually making a name for himself within the community.
But Allan knew passion alone wouldn’t be enough. He went on to earn a degree in Sound Engineering, mastering the technical side of the music industry. This move opened new doors for him and helped him understand the industry beyond just spinning tracks.
“Getting that degree wasn’t just about education,” Allan says. “It was about proving to myself and others that I could turn my passion into a serious career.”
Turning Passion into Profession
In his mid-20s, Allan officially stepped into the professional world of music and events. But the journey wasn’t without its challenges. Breaking into an industry filled with experienced entrepreneurs and seasoned DJs in the Middle East wasn’t easy.
“The biggest challenge for me was adapting,” he admits. “In this region, technology evolves fast, trends shift daily, and you have to stay ahead or risk being left behind. There were times when I felt like an outsider in conversations with established industry giants, but I used that as fuel to push harder.”
He started working with part-time event companies, absorbing everything he could about event management, sound systems, and client handling. Every gig became a learning experience, and slowly, he began to carve out his own space.
The People Behind His Success
Allan is quick to credit his support system for helping him stay focused through the highs and lows. His father remains his biggest inspiration, while his mother played an equally pivotal role, never forcing him to abandon his musical dreams. His two sisters were his constant cheerleaders in his early days, and his wife continues to be his biggest motivator.
“My wife reminds me every day that I have more to offer. Her belief in me is unshakable, and that’s been a game-changer for me both personally and professionally,” Allan shares.
Achievements That Matter
Today, DJ Mytee A is not just a DJ but also an entrepreneur. He is young CEO of Radiance Sound Lighting, a company providing sound and lighting services for events across the Middle East. He dreams of expanding his company globally, taking Radiance to new markets and introducing unique, unforgettable experiences to clients worldwide.
Among his many accomplishments, being recognized in the Top 20 DJ’s list and balancing work-life harmony as a family man stand out for Allan. “To be able to pursue my passion, be a good son, husband, and friend — these are achievements I’ll cherish for a hundred years,” he says.
Current Projects and Vision for the Future
The hustle continues for Allan, as he works on scaling Radiance Sound Lighting with branches across different countries. Alongside managing his business and events, Allan remains dedicated to his original love — DJing.
“My dream is to become one of the best DJ’s representing Sri Lanka on the international stage. I want people to hear my name and know where I’m from. It’s about pride and passion,” he explains.
Allan also envisions starting a DJ Academy in the near future. He hopes to mentor young, aspiring DJs, especially those from underrepresented communities, and teach them not only the technical skills but also the business side of the industry.
“I didn’t have a formal platform to guide me when I started. If I can be that mentor for someone else, it’ll be one of my greatest accomplishments,” Allan adds.
Life Lessons from the DJ Booth
Through his journey, Allan has learned invaluable life lessons — patience, consistency, and the importance of mindset. He firmly believes that failures are not roadblocks but stepping stones to greater success.
“I’ve had my share of failures,” Allan admits. “Moments when I doubted myself, lost opportunities, or felt like giving up. But those moments taught me resilience. Confidence comes from overcoming setbacks, not avoiding them.”
He encourages young people to be patient, stay positive, and take risks. According to Allan, confidence builds character, and it’s okay to feel low sometimes. The key is to never give up on your dreams.
Advice to the Next Generation
For those starting their own journey, Allan offers heartfelt advice:
“Be patient. Be positive. Take risks. And when things get tough — cry if you have to, but get back up and chase those dreams. It’s the mindset that will set you apart.”
He also emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself with people who believe in you. Allan’s own story is a testament to how a supportive family and community can fuel one’s success.

While Allan has achieved so much, he believes he’s only just begun. His sights are set on bigger goals: being recognized among the Top 10 DJs globally, becoming a successful mentor, and living a beautiful family life.
“The journey is long, but I’m enjoying every bit of it. Every show, every event, every late-night studio session — it’s all part of the story I’m writing,” Allan concludes with a smile.
