Bader Kabbani’s story is one of courage, transformation, and creative fire. Born on March 16, 1999, Bader’s path initially followed a traditional route—studying to become a lawyer. But life took an unexpected turn when he received an acceptance letter from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York to train in acting. That moment became a defining shift in his life’s direction. What was once a dream took form and focus, as he traded legal briefs for film scripts and courtroom logic for cinematic storytelling.
In an era where Saudi Arabia’s entertainment industry is rapidly opening up and evolving, Bader saw the perfect opportunity to dive headfirst into his passion. The change didn’t come without challenges, but for Bader, it was necessary and deeply fulfilling.
Embracing a New Identity in a Growing Industry
The development of the entertainment scene in Saudi Arabia gave Bader the push he needed. As the country started investing in film, theater, and digital media, creatives like him found a new space to thrive. Bader knew that this was more than a moment—it was a movement.
His transition from the world of law to the world of cinema wasn’t just a career change—it was a life transformation. He explains, “They’re both very different routes. Making the shift felt like a 180-degree change in my life. From office and stability to self-discovery and entering the unknown.”
For many, the uncertainty of the entertainment industry can be daunting. But Bader embraced it, understanding that with risk comes reward. What made it possible was his blend of academic discipline, hands-on training, and professional experience.
Training That Transformed His Voice
Bader’s training journey began with a major milestone—acceptance into Juilliard, one of the most renowned performing arts institutions in the world. Before that, he trained at Frank Stein Studio in Madrid, where he honed his craft and deepened his emotional connection to acting. It was during this period that he submitted his Juilliard audition—unexpectedly, from an airport in Mallorca. “I didn’t think much of it,” he recalls, “but once I got the acceptance to the program, it was a no-brainer to move to New York.”
There, he learned the power of storytelling, character, and performance on a whole new level. These experiences not only helped him improve as an actor, but they also helped him find his voice. That voice—grounded in honesty, passion, and vision—is what continues to drive him today.
Behind the Camera: Award-Winning Filmmaker
Bader’s talents aren’t limited to acting. He has also shot and produced multiple award-winning short films. Some of his most notable experiences include working with FIFA, Vice Media, Whisper TV, and Yellow Camel. These opportunities allowed him to grow as a filmmaker and storyteller, contributing to projects that reached large audiences and earned recognition.
What sets Bader apart is his belief in collaboration. “It matters to me because most of my films have been successful from a collaborative standpoint. That makes me excited to share a successful journey with people who inspire me.”
His storytelling isn’t just about visuals—it’s about impact. He wants his films to say something, to create conversations, and to move people.
Building a Global Bridge Through Storytelling
Currently, Bader is working on two short films that he shot in New York, both in pre-production. Meanwhile, he’s also in post-production for four other short films. Each project brings him closer to his long-term goal: telling powerful, cinematic stories in both the Saudi and Western markets.
His dream is clear—feature-length films and TV series that cross borders, spark dialogue, and reflect real human experiences.
“I hope the Saudi film market can be more involved with the Western world. As a country that welcomes billions of people for Islamic pilgrimage, our country holds the potential for telling stories from all around the world,” Bader says.
The Value of Patience in a Fast-Paced World
If there’s one thing Bader has learned through this process, it’s patience. Filmmaking is often romanticized, but behind the scenes, it involves long hours, sleepless nights, and countless obstacles.
“Patience is a skill I’m continuously trying to learn,” he shares. “What you see on screen as an audience is the sum of months of grinding, hard work, and unexpected events. Trusting the process is a valuable tool.”
That trust in the journey—and in himself—is what keeps Bader grounded. He knows that good art takes time, and he’s willing to wait and work for it.
A Vision for Saudi Cinema
Saudi Arabia’s film industry is still young, but it’s growing fast. With support from the government, local production companies, and international partners, the Kingdom is investing heavily in creative industries. This has opened up new doors for filmmakers like Bader.
But he wants to see more than growth—he wants to see connection. “I hope to see the Saudi film market become more deeply connected with the global cinematic landscape,” he explains. “As a nation that welcomes millions from around the world for Islamic pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia holds a unique position as a cultural and spiritual crossroads—rich with untold stories that resonate far beyond its borders.”
He sees film as a powerful way to build bridges, not just between Saudi Arabia and the West, but between communities and individuals who may never otherwise cross paths.
Giving Voice to the Unheard
At the heart of Bader’s mission is something deeply human—the desire to give voice to those who are often ignored. He hopes to make films that reflect everyday realities, celebrate diversity, and challenge stereotypes.
“I hope to make films that actually influence a greater audience. Films that provide a voice for the unheard and build on that with creative and imaginative cinema,” he says.
His dream isn’t just about success—it’s about service. It’s about using art to open minds and invite empathy.
Looking Ahead: A Bright Future in Film
Bader Kabbani’s journey is still unfolding, but it’s already full of meaning. From a law student to an actor and filmmaker, he’s shown that it’s never too late to follow your true calling. With several short films in the pipeline and a clear vision for the future, Bader is well on his way to becoming one of the voices shaping the next generation of Saudi cinema.
Whether it’s on the screen or behind the scenes, in Riyadh or New York, Bader’s work reminds us that powerful stories can come from anywhere—and that passion, patience, and purpose can light the way.
