Qatar:Over 2,200 Students Compete in Qatar’s Prestigious Robotics Championship
Doha, Qatar – More than 2,200 students from over 200 schools in Qatar are participating in the 17th edition of the Schools Robotics Championship, which began yesterday at Lusail Multipurpose Hall. The event, which spans three days, brings together more than 800 teams from public and private schools, aiming to foster innovation, creativity, and teamwork among Qatar’s youth.
Organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth in collaboration with the Qatar Scientific Club and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), the championship serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their skills in various areas of robotics and technology. It is designed to help shape the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators, in alignment with Qatar’s Vision 2030, which seeks to promote sustainable development through innovation and advanced technology.

The opening ceremony was attended by several distinguished officials, including Eng. Yasser bin Abdullah Al Jamal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and Maha bint Zayed Al Ruwaili, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at MoEHE. Notable figures such as the President of the National Cybersecurity Agency, H.E. Abdulrahman Al Malki, and Ismail Yassin, President of the Arab Society for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, also participated.
The championship features a variety of competitive categories that highlight the students’ talents in robotics, ranging from traditional challenges such as the FLL Robot Challenge to newer contests like the Diving Robot Competition. Other exciting events include the Football and Drone Competition, Robot Arm Challenge, Line Tracking, and Sumo, among others. These events are designed to push the students’ creativity and problem-solving abilities while encouraging hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
