TrinaTracker Establishes 3GW Solar Tracker Manufacturing Plant in Saudi Arabia

TrinaTracker, a leading provider of smart solar tracking solutions and a subsidiary of China’s Trina Solar Co., Ltd., has announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. This strategic move aims to enhance the company’s localization efforts and service capabilities in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.

Facility Details and Production Capabilities

The new factory, located in Jeddah’s 3rd Industrial City, is set to commence operations in the first quarter of 2025. With an annual production capacity of 3 gigawatts (GW), the facility will specialize in manufacturing TrinaTracker’s Vanguard series of solar trackers and smart control systems. Notably, the production process is designed to operate with zero pollutant emissions, underscoring the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Strategic Importance and Localization Efforts

This Jeddah plant marks TrinaTracker’s fourth manufacturing facility worldwide, joining existing plants in China, Spain, and Brazil. The expansion into Saudi Arabia aligns with the company’s strategy to localize its operations, thereby improving service delivery and meeting the specific needs of regional customers. Vincent Wu, Global Sales Vice President and MEA MU Head at Trina Solar, emphasized that enhancing local presence allows the company to improve service capabilities, increase delivery efficiency, and ensure that customers in the region have access to innovative, high-quality solar tracking solutions.

Alignment with Saudi Vision 2030

TrinaTracker’s investment supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to diversify the country’s energy mix, create local employment opportunities, and stimulate growth in the renewable energy sector. By establishing a local manufacturing base, TrinaTracker contributes to these national objectives, fostering economic development and technological advancement within the Kingdom.

Technological Adaptation to Regional Conditions

The Vanguard series of solar trackers and accompanying smart control systems are engineered to optimize energy generation, even in challenging weather conditions prevalent in Saudi Arabia and the broader MEA region. These systems are designed to withstand sandstorms, strong winds, and high temperatures, ensuring reliable performance and efficiency.

Global Expansion and Previous Investments

TrinaTracker’s expansion into Saudi Arabia follows its recent establishment of a manufacturing plant in Salvador, Brazil, in September 2023. The Brazilian facility, with an annual production capacity of 2.5 GW, was set up to meet local content requirements and enhance service delivery across Latin America. These strategic investments reflect TrinaTracker’s commitment to global growth and localization, enabling the company to better serve diverse markets with tailored solutions.

Conclusion

The establishment of a 3 GW manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia signifies a pivotal advancement in TrinaTracker’s localization strategy and its dedication to supporting renewable energy initiatives in the Middle East. By aligning with national objectives and addressing regional energy needs, TrinaTracker is poised to play a significant role in the Kingdom’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions.
