In a bold and strategic move to elevate its presence in the Gulf region, India’s leading airline IndiGo Expands UAE has announced the launch of 15 new services between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kerala, set to begin operations on May 15, 2025. This expansion is not just about more flights—it’s a thoughtful step toward reconnecting families, supporting migrant workers, and boosting economic and tourism ties between two dynamic regions.

The new routes are expected to be a game-changer for thousands of Indian expatriates living in the UAE who frequently travel back home to Kerala. With better timings, more accessibility, and greater frequency, these services aim to provide a seamless travel experience that is both efficient and affordable.

Deepening UAE-Kerala Relations

This expansion solidifies the strong bond between India and the UAE, particularly the southern state of Kerala, which is home to one of the largest Indian diaspora communities. IndiGo’s new services will connect cities in the UAE—including Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah—with two major Indian destinations: Mumbai and Kannur.

With this initiative, Fujairah becomes IndiGo’s fifth destination in the UAE and its 41st international city on the global route map. This demonstrates the airline’s commitment to broadening its global footprint, particularly in areas with high travel demand from Indian nationals.

Full Schedule with Focused Convenience

IndiGo’s detailed timetable ensures travelers can choose flights that suit their daily routines, whether they are traveling for business, family visits, or vacation.

IndiGo Expands UAE

From Union Metro Station in Dubai, flights to Mumbai will depart at 6:20 PM and to Kannur at 9:50 PM. Similarly, from Muhaisnah 2, departures to Mumbai are set for 7:20 PM and to Kannur at 10:35 PM. King Faisal Mosque in Sharjah will see Mumbai-bound departures at 5:35 PM and Kannur-bound at 9:05 PM.

Passengers from Muwaileh in Sharjah can board flights to Mumbai at 7:35 PM and to Kannur at 10:50 PM. Ajman’s Lucky Round About will offer departures to Mumbai at 5:20 PM and to Kannur at 8:50 PM, while Al Zeenat Super Market in Umm Al Quwain will connect passengers to Mumbai at 5:50 PM and to Kannur at 9:20 PM.

Ras Al Khaimah’s RTA Bus Terminal will have flights to Mumbai at 6:50 PM and to Kannur at 10:20 PM. Those in Dibba near Lulu Hypermarket can fly to Mumbai at 7:50 PM and to Kannur at 11:20 PM.

The thoughtfulness in this schedule shows IndiGo’s understanding of the commuting needs of passengers, many of whom travel long distances from remote Emirates to catch international flights.

Free Shuttle Buses and Onboard Perks

To further support passengers and enhance their travel experience, IndiGo has arranged complimentary shuttle services from various northern Emirates to Dubai, ensuring easier access to the flight terminals. This addition will make it significantly easier for travelers residing in distant cities like Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain to access their flights without incurring high transportation costs.

Additionally, to celebrate the launch, the airline will be offering attractive discounts on duty-free products, making the journey not only convenient but also cost-effective and enjoyable. These perks are especially valuable to frequent flyers and those looking to make the most of their travel budget.

A Strategic Move for Regional Growth

This expansion fits neatly into IndiGo’s broader mission to connect underserved markets and deepen ties between India and key global regions. The UAE, being home to nearly 3.5 million Indian nationals, is a critical hub for any Indian airline. By extending its services to cities like Fujairah—often overlooked by other carriers—IndiGo is not only boosting regional accessibility but also positioning itself as a truly inclusive airline.

With the addition of these new flights, IndiGo’s international presence now stretches across 132 routes, with operations in 90 domestic and multiple international destinations. This expansion is a reflection of the airline’s confidence in the demand from the Gulf region and its commitment to supporting the evolving needs of Indian travelers.

Strengthening Trade, Tourism, and Ties

Fujairah, the newest addition to IndiGo’s international list, holds strong potential beyond tourism. With its strategic location along the Gulf of Oman and its rising importance in trade and logistics, the city is poised to become a vital economic link between India and the Middle East. The introduction of direct flights to Fujairah is expected to give a boost to cargo movement and business travel, thereby benefiting both countries.

From Kerala’s perspective, the new flights bring economic opportunities as well. More flights mean greater footfall, increased tourism spending, and enhanced visibility for regional destinations like Kannur—one of the lesser-known but culturally rich parts of the state.

A Human-Centric Airline

What truly stands out about IndiGo’s latest announcement is how human-centric it is. This is more than a numbers game or a network expansion—it’s a heartfelt response to the needs of millions who see flying not as a luxury, but as a lifeline. Whether it’s a nurse flying back to Kozhikode, a student heading to Mumbai, or a businessman connecting through the Gulf, these routes are set to make journeys easier and lives better.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, emphasized that the expansion supports their goal of enhancing regional connectivity and convenience for both leisure and business travelers. “This move will not only serve the Indian diaspora in the UAE but also improve access for tourists and entrepreneurs who are seeking newer, faster travel options,” he noted.

Looking Ahead

As the world continues to adapt to post-pandemic travel norms, airlines like IndiGo are leading the way with smart, customer-focused decisions. The launch of 15 new services between the UAE and Kerala is more than just a route announcement—it’s a reaffirmation of commitment to people, progress, and possibility.

With competitive pricing, an expanding fleet, and a growing international footprint, IndiGo continues to soar, promising travelers not just more destinations, but better experiences.
