A Journey Born from Heartache

Losing his mother to cancer was a moment that changed Ali Wehbi’s life forever. Known around the world as The Legendary Lebanese Desert Runner, Ali carries her memory in every race he runs.

“Her strength and resilience became the fuel behind my running,” he shares. “Every step I take carries her memory, transforming grief into purpose and drive.”

Born and raised in Lebanon, Ali grew up surrounded by conflict. But instead of being consumed by loss and fear, he turned to running—not just as a sport, but as a way to heal, to speak, and to inspire.

Turning Pain into Purpose

Ali’s journey into extreme running started after his mother passed away. The pain was too much to carry. But running gave him a way to release it, to feel closer to her, and to build something out of the chaos.

“I was inspired by the pain of loss—my mother’s passing—and the chaos surrounding my country. Running became my way to channel that pain into purpose,” he says.

For Ali, running is not only physical. It’s deeply emotional and spiritual. “It fits me perfectly because it blends physical endurance with emotional strength and advocacy.”

Achievements Across Continents

Ali Wehbi

Ali Wehbi isn’t just any runner. He has run across every desert in the world—from the Sahara to Antarctica. He has endured the harshest conditions on earth, not for glory, but for causes that matter deeply to him.

One of his proudest moments was carrying the Lebanese Red Cross flag to the North Pole during a marathon in freezing conditions. Another was completing ultra-marathons to raise awareness and funds for children with autism, cancer patients, and disaster relief.

But perhaps the most meaningful run was in Lebanon, when he helped rebuild a special needs school that had been destroyed by war. “That run gave my steps real purpose,” Ali says. “It wasn’t about finishing a race—it was about giving hope.”

Running Through War Zones

Ali’s story is not just one of endurance—it’s one of incredible courage. His very first ultra-distance run was around Lebanon. He had no sponsors. No media attention. And he ran through war zones, facing bomb threats and instability.

“The biggest challenge was proving to myself and to others that resilience is stronger than fear, even in a war zone,” he recalls.

Ali’s message is clear: you don’t need perfect conditions to do something meaningful. You just need heart, grit, and a reason.

Upcoming Challenges: 50 Marathons in 50 Days

Ali isn’t slowing down. In fact, he’s preparing for one of his biggest challenges yet: running 50 marathons in 50 days, from Beirut to Mecca.

It’s a journey that symbolizes peace, unity, and spiritual resilience. He hopes this run will bring attention to humanitarian causes, especially those affecting youth and people with disabilities.

He’s also planning a seven-day run across all seven Emirates of the UAE for World Autism Day 2026. It’s part of a global movement he leads, called Autism Together. Through this, he hopes to raise awareness, funds, and love for those often left behind.

“These projects reflect my long-term goal to unite people through endurance, hope, and purpose,” he explains. “But I can’t do it alone. I hope sponsors will follow, because the mission is global.”

Pain is a Messenger

Ali sees pain not as an enemy, but as a teacher. His approach to running—and life—is shaped by this belief.

“Pain is not the enemy. It’s a messenger. I’ve learned to listen to it, understand it, and grow through it,” he says. “This mindset has shaped the way I train, recover, and support others—with awareness, patience, and compassion.”

He often reminds young runners and dreamers not to be afraid of struggle. “Trust the pain—it’s shaping your strength. Don’t wait for perfect timing. Start where you are, with what you have. And always run with your heart, not just your legs. Because that’s where your true power lies.”

Running with a Mission

Ali Wehbi is more than an athlete. He is a humanitarian with a powerful message. He wants to be remembered not just for the races he finished, but for the people he ran for.

“I want to be remembered as the runner who turned pain into power, and war zones into hope zones,” he says. “Not just as a superhuman athlete, but as someone who ran for peace, for children, and for love. A voice for the voiceless.”

A Global Message of Unity

Whether it’s deserts, mountains, snowfields, or city streets, Ali Wehbi runs with a purpose that goes far beyond finish lines. He believes that through endurance, unity, and empathy, we can cross any distance—no matter how hard.

From a young boy in Lebanon surrounded by uncertainty, to a world-renowned ultra-runner who inspires thousands, Ali’s journey shows what happens when pain is turned into purpose, and purpose into power.

And through every mile, every blister, and every breath, his mother’s memory runs beside him.
