From the time Mohammed Alrefaidi was a child, football wasn’t just a sport it was everything. His life revolved around it, and his dream was crystal clear: become a football star. Every moment, every practice, every ounce of energy went toward chasing that single passion. And he succeeded. He achieved his dream.

But then, life took an unexpected turn.

A severe injury dislocated collarbone and torn knee ligament brought his football journey to an abrupt end. For many, this would have been the final chapter. But for Mohammed, it was only the beginning of a new one.

The Injury That Sparked a New Passion

In 2021, the injury that halted his football career became the very reason Mohammed discovered a new love: running.

Instead of letting his condition defeat him, he looked at it as a redirection. “I refused to let the injury define my limits,” he says. “I’d always loved running as part of my daily routine, but now, I chose to dedicate myself fully to it.”

The shift was not easy. The road to recovery was long and painful, both physically and mentally. Getting back to even normal physical activity felt like climbing a mountain. But with the support of his coach, Mohammed Ehab, and strong personal faith, he recovered and came back even stronger.

Running Toward a Greater Purpose

What began as a solo activity soon became a source of connection and influence. Mohammed’s personal transformation started to catch the attention of those around him. Friends who had never considered running before began joining him. What once was a solitary effort turned into a community movement.

“I started alone, but now I run with friends. Seeing others join in, being motivated by my story that’s my biggest achievement so far,” he says with a smile.

Mohammed’s vision grew beyond just personal recovery. He started using his platform to raise awareness about fitness and the benefits of running as a lifestyle. With social media and local events, he began promoting a positive, active way of life in Saudi Arabia.

Aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Sports Vision

Today, Mohammed’s journey aligns with larger national efforts. The Saudi Sports Ministry has been actively promoting healthier lifestyles through public events, fitness campaigns, and wellness programs. Mohammed sees this as a perfect opportunity to amplify his mission.

“The ministry’s initiatives are helping people embrace sports more openly. It also gives me the right platform to expand awareness and encourage running as something joyful, not just a workout,” he explains.

He is proud to be part of a rising culture of wellness in the Kingdom. The growing fanbase and public interest in active living give him hope that his dream of creating a happier, more active society is within reach.

Lessons from the Track

Mohammed’s journey wasn’t just about changing sports it changed him as a person.

“Running taught me patience and self-control,” he says. “I used to act on impulse, but now I understand the value of discipline and long-term thinking.”

He applies these lessons beyond the track. Whether it’s planning new campaigns, training others, or just working on himself, Mohammed believes that true success comes from mastering endurance, consistency, and personal growth.

This mindset has allowed him to not only heal but to grow in ways he never imagined possible.

A New Legacy: Movement Equals Joy

More than just an athlete, Mohammed wants to be remembered as a changemaker. His mission is clear: make sports accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.

“I want people to see movement as happiness not an obligation. Running should be something people love, not just something they do to stay fit,” he says.

His vision is rooted in spreading positivity. For him, every person who laces up their shoes because of his story is a personal victory. And those victories are building a legacy of inspiration, one step at a time.

Words That Keep Him Going

When asked what he tells himself during tough moments, Mohammed shares a powerful mantra:

“Trust that lost dreams make space for greater ones. Stay patient through setbacks what feels like an ending often redirects you toward a purpose beyond imagination. Gratitude and endurance unlock this.”

These words are not just quotes they are a reflection of a life lived through pain, purpose, and perseverance.

What’s Next for Mohammed Alrefaidi?

Looking ahead, Mohammed hopes to scale his movement further. Whether through partnerships with health organizations, organizing local runs, or expanding his digital platform, he wants to take his message to every corner of Saudi Arabia and beyond.

His dream is no longer about just being the best at a sport. It’s about creating space for others to dream, grow, and transform.

By focusing on mental strength, discipline, and accessible wellness, Mohammed is turning setbacks into stepping stones. And in doing so, he’s not just running toward a finish line he’s creating a new path for others to follow.
