Moscow Expands Tourism Opportunities for Kuwaiti Visitors
Moscow is actively enhancing its appeal to Kuwaiti travelers, aiming to strengthen cultural ties and boost tourism between Russia and Kuwait. Recent initiatives include business missions, improved travel infrastructure, and the introduction of electronic visas, all designed to make Moscow a more attractive destination for Kuwaiti visitors.
Record-Breaking Tourism Numbers
In 2024, Moscow experienced a significant surge in Kuwaiti tourism. Approximately 13,900 Kuwaiti tourists visited the city during the first nine months of the year, a tenfold increase compared to the same period in 2019. Notably, 98% of these visitors came for tourism and entertainment purposes. This growth is attributed to enhanced travel options and targeted promotional efforts.
Direct Flights and Electronic Visas
The introduction of direct flights between Kuwait and Moscow has significantly facilitated travel. Currently, there are eight direct flights per week, making the journey more convenient for Kuwaiti travelers. Additionally, since August 2023, citizens of Kuwait have been eligible for electronic visas to Russia, streamlining the entry process and encouraging more visitors.
Business Missions and Cultural Exchange
To further strengthen ties, the Moscow City Tourism Committee has organized business missions to Kuwait. In February 2024, a delegation comprising representatives from 19 companies, including major tour operators and hospitality providers, met with over 180 representatives from 119 Kuwaiti companies. These meetings aimed to explore cooperation opportunities and discuss tourism potential between the two regions.

Moscow is diversifying its tourism offerings to cater to Kuwaiti visitors. The city boasts a rich cultural heritage, with iconic landmarks such as St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Kremlin. Additionally, Moscow offers luxury experiences, including high-end shopping and five-star accommodations, appealing to Kuwaiti travelers seeking exclusive destinations.

Looking ahead, discussions are underway for a potential visa exemption agreement between Russia and Kuwait, which could further simplify travel and encourage tourism.
