Qatar has once again taken center stage in the global cybersecurity space with the successful launch of the second edition of Cyber First Qatar 2025, a major event that brought together more than 300 cybersecurity experts, government officials, industry leaders, and technology innovators. The event focused on harnessing the power of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and automation to build a safer, more secure digital landscape for the country.
Organized by the Events First Group, this year’s conference took place in alignment with Qatar’s National Cybersecurity Strategy 2024–2030 and its ambitious Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered knowledge economy.
A Vision for a Digitally Secure Qatar
Speaking during the opening session, Yasir Rauf, Head of Market Development at Events First Group, stressed the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors to defend against modern cyber threats. He highlighted that Cyber First Qatar is not just a platform to discuss problems but a collaborative space where strategic partnerships are built and real-world cybersecurity solutions are shaped.
“This event is designed to bring together the country’s most forward-thinking minds—those in charge of protecting data, businesses, and national infrastructure,” he said. “Cyber First is more than a conference; it’s a call to action.”
The main theme revolved around securing the nation’s digital future through investment in cutting-edge technology, building national capacity, and creating robust defense mechanisms that protect not only data and digital assets but also critical infrastructure and national interests.
The Power of AI in Cybersecurity
One of the most anticipated segments of the event was the deep dive into the role of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity. With cyberattacks becoming more sophisticated and frequent, AI is now seen as a key tool in identifying and responding to threats in real-time. Panelists discussed how machine learning algorithms can monitor unusual activity, detect breaches faster, and reduce response time significantly.
Speakers noted that Qatar is investing heavily in AI integration to create intelligent cybersecurity ecosystems that can predict, detect, and respond to threats automatically—something that traditional systems often struggle with.

The digital transformation of essential services has made critical infrastructure systems—such as power grids, water supplies, oil and gas operations, and transportation—high-value targets for cybercriminals. Recognizing this growing risk, Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has intensified its efforts to secure the country’s Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT).
One of the key initiatives announced during the event was the launch of a specialized training program to equip cybersecurity professionals with the skills needed to defend these systems. The NCSA revealed that more than 70 experts are currently being trained in advanced OT and cybersecurity defense systems as part of the country’s wider effort to build local capacity.
This program is expected to play a vital role in ensuring national resilience, especially in sectors that are critical to Qatar’s economy and daily life.
Aligning With Qatar’s National Vision 2030
One of the key themes of the conference was the strong connection between cybersecurity and national development. A special session titled “Safeguarding the Digital Future” addressed how integrating cyber protection into every aspect of Qatar’s modernization plan is essential for long-term success.

The session emphasized that cybersecurity must be a fundamental pillar, not just for IT departments, but for boardroom decision-making across all sectors.
“Digital trust is the foundation of a modern economy,” one speaker said. “Without strong cybersecurity, digital innovation cannot thrive.”

There was also a focus on raising public awareness about digital hygiene—how ordinary citizens can protect themselves from phishing, identity theft, and online fraud. Cybersecurity, experts emphasized, must be a national mindset.
