Qatar Red Crescent Society’s ‘Duty To Give’ Ramadan Campaign Aims to Support 1.6 Million People Globally
Doha, February 20, 2024 – The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has announced the launch of its Ramadan Campaign for 1445 AH, aptly named ‘Duty To Give’. This initiative seeks to provide assistance to approximately 1.6 million individuals across 19 countries, focusing on various humanitarian and development projects.
Key Objectives of the Campaign:
- Ramadan Iftar Projects: QRCS plans to deliver Iftar meals to around 281,000 people during the holy month of Ramadan.
- Year-Round Humanitarian Initiatives: Beyond Ramadan, the campaign encompasses projects in sectors such as food security, shelter, water and sanitation, livelihoods, education, psychological support, health, and medical convoys.
Leadership Insights:
Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi, the Acting Secretary-General of QRCS, emphasized the campaign’s significance, stating, “Being our main seasonal fundraising campaign in Qatar, the Ramadan Campaign helps us implement Shariah-compliant projects/programs that achieve our humanitarian goals and promote solidarity and fraternity among the rich and the poor during the blessed month of Ramadan.”
He further highlighted the challenging conditions in Gaza, noting that its residents “lack almost everything needed to enjoy a safe and decent life.” Al-Emadi affirmed QRCS’s commitment to supporting Gaza’s immediate needs.
Focus Areas:
Yousef Mohamed Al-Awadi, Director of the Fundraising Department at QRCS, outlined the campaign’s primary projects:
- Housing for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs): Constructing homes to provide shelter for those displaced within their countries.
- Water Well Development: Digging wells to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water in underserved regions.
- Livelihood Support: Funding projects that empower poor families to achieve economic stability.
- Healthcare Provision: Supplying food parcels, medical equipment, medications, and healthcare services to those in need.
Additional assistance includes medical treatment for impoverished patients, debt relief for heavily indebted individuals, and financial support for underprivileged families.

QRCS has facilitated multiple avenues for donors to contribute:
- Online Platforms: Donations can be made through the official QRCS website and mobile application.
- Direct Communication: Donors can contact the donor service at 66666364 or arrange for home donation collection by calling 33998898.
- Bank Transfers: Contributions are accepted via QRCS’s accounts at Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), and Qatar National Bank (QNB).
- In-Person Donations: QRCS representatives are available at their headquarters and various malls and shopping centers to receive donations.

Al-Emadi expressed gratitude to Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and other partners for their support. He also called upon the generous people of Qatar to assist hundreds of thousands of fasting individuals worldwide during Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of charity and good deeds during this sacred month.
