In a recent social media post, former Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hamad Bin Jassim, called for a united Arab response to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial proposal regarding Palestine and Gaza. Bin Jassim criticized Netanyahu’s actions and called them a blatant attempt to undermine Palestinian sovereignty, urging Arab nations to take a firm stand against these moves.

The ex-Qatar leader’s comments come at a time of rising concerns over a potential shift in the region’s political landscape. Netanyahu, in his latest remarks, suggested that a Palestinian state could be established within Saudi Arabia. This proposal, described by Bin Jassim as “ridiculous,” has stirred diplomatic tensions, especially given the long-standing support Saudi Arabia has shown for Palestinian rights.

Bin Jassim emphasized that Arab countries must adopt a unified and clear stance rejecting any plans to displace Palestinians from Gaza. He condemned suggestions to turn Gaza into a “real estate project” or force its residents into exile. The former Qatari official noted that this proposal would only further entrench the occupation and leave the Palestinian people without any viable statehood options.

He also urged the upcoming Arab summit, set to take place in Cairo, to make a definitive statement of support for the Palestinians. This summit, according to Bin Jassim, should differ from previous ones by presenting a unified position that affirms Arab solidarity with Palestine and opposes any efforts to compromise its territorial integrity. Arab nations, Bin Jassim stated, should present a single, coherent voice in international forums such as the United Nations and the Arab League.

“Saudi Arabia’s position is key,” Bin Jassim said, emphasizing that the kingdom has always been a central figure in the Arab world’s support for Palestinian rights. He further criticized Netanyahu’s proposal, arguing that it aligns with Israel’s ongoing efforts to occupy more Palestinian land and undermine the rights of the Palestinian people.

Bin Jassim’s call for unity resonates with broader concerns within the Arab world over Israel’s continued expansionist policies. In particular, the former prime minister referred to a troubling remark made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who had previously suggested that the Gaza Strip could be turned into an international “Riviera” if it were managed by the U.S. Trump’s statement, which implied forcibly relocating Gaza’s residents, was met with condemnation from multiple Arab leaders, including Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

The situation remains tense as world leaders and organizations continue to debate the fate of Gaza and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict. However, Bin Jassim insists that Arab unity and firm opposition to Netanyahu’s proposal are essential to prevent further Israeli encroachment on Palestinian territories.

As the Arab League and other regional entities prepare for upcoming discussions, it remains to be seen whether they will rally around a collective position, and if this will be sufficient to push back against the policies of Israel and its allies.

In conclusion, Bin Jassim’s statements are a call to action for Arab nations to demonstrate leadership on the Palestinian issue, upholding the rights of the Palestinian people while standing in solidarity with Saudi Arabia against what he described as Netanyahu’s dangerous proposal
