Qatar Red Crescent Society Unveils ‘Fruitful Giving’ Ramadan Campaign

Doha, February 12, 2025 – The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has announced its Ramadan Campaign for 2025/1446 AH, aptly named ‘Fruitful Giving.’ This initiative aims to provide support to over two million individuals across 16 countries during the holy month of Ramadan and throughout the year.

Campaign Overview

The ‘Fruitful Giving’ campaign is structured into two primary segments:

  1. Ramadan Iftar Projects: QRCS plans to distribute food parcels to more than 538,000 fasting individuals in 16 countries during Ramadan.
  2. Year-Round Humanitarian and Development Projects: These initiatives aim to assist over two million beneficiaries in Qatar and 11 other countries through various programs.

Commitment to Alleviating Suffering

During a press conference, QRCS Secretary-General Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi emphasized the organization’s dedication to supporting vulnerable populations. He highlighted the worsening humanitarian crises in regions such as Syria, Gaza, Sudan, Yemen, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, underscoring QRCS’s resolve to provide aid to those affected by conflicts, disasters, poverty, and climate change.

Local Initiatives in Qatar

Within Qatar, QRCS has outlined eight ongoing projects designed to support approximately 23,000 individuals, including widows, divorced women, orphans, the elderly, people with special needs, patients, students, and those in debt. These projects encompass emergency aid, empowerment and awareness programs, health services, and educational initiatives.

International Outreach

Globally, QRCS plans to implement 136 projects benefiting nearly two million people in countries such as Palestine (Gaza and the West Bank), Syria, Yemen, Niger, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Bangladesh, and Mauritania. These projects will focus on sectors including health, food security, shelter, and livelihoods.

Continued Support for Syria

In a video call during the press conference, Mazen Abdullah, head of QRCS’s office in Turkey, provided an overview of the aid provided to Syria over the past 14 years. He noted that assistance exceeding $166 million has been delivered, focusing on health, food security, shelter, and livelihoods.

Addressing Challenges in Gaza

Abdullah Al Madhoun, monitoring and evaluation officer at QRCS’s office in Gaza, highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by residents of the Gaza Strip. He emphasized the increasing severity of their suffering over the past 15 months, underscoring the need for continued support.

QRCS has provided multiple avenues for those wishing to contribute to the ‘Fruitful Giving’ campaign:

  • Mobile Application: Contributions are accepted via the QRCS mobile app.
  • Donor Service: Donors can call 66666364 for assistance.
  • Home Donation Collection: To arrange for donation collection, individuals can call 33998898.
  • Bank Transfers: Donations can be transferred to QRCS’s accounts at Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB), and Qatar National Bank (QNB).
  • In-Person Donations: QRCS donation agents are available at various malls and shopping centers to receive contributions.
