A Childhood Spark Ignites a Lifelong Passion

Born on August 29, 1980, in Dubai, Moein Al Bastaki’s journey into the world of magic began with a simple coin trick performed by his grandfather. His grandfather, a pearl trader, often traveled to India and returned with fascinating tales and tricks from fakirs and street magicians. Among these was the illusion of making a coin disappear and reappear—something that mesmerized young Moein.

At just six years old, Moein watched in awe as his grandfather performed this trick, planting the seed for what would become a lifelong obsession. His passion only grew stronger. By the time he was nine, he was performing small magic shows for his family, refining his craft with whatever knowledge he could gather. His uncle, impressed by his efforts, rewarded him with five UAE dirhams—an encouragement that fueled his enthusiasm even further.

Balancing Education and Magic

Despite his fascination with magic, Moein understood the importance of education. His father, a firm believer in academic excellence, encouraged him to focus on his studies. Determined to honor his family’s wishes while still pursuing his passion, Moein developed a balance between academics and magic.

He graduated from Al Imam Malik School in 1998 and later pursued a bachelor’s degree in Business at the University of Dubai, which he completed in 2004. Not stopping there, he went on to earn a master’s degree in Marketing from the University of Wollongong in Dubai in 2008.

While education occupied his days, his nights were spent perfecting his craft. He would watch and analyze magic performances from legendary magicians like David Copperfield and Derren Brown. His father’s video rental store proved to be a treasure trove, granting him access to countless magic shows and tutorials.

The Leap to Professional Magic

In 2005, Moein finally stepped onto the professional stage with his first-ever public performance on New Year’s Eve in Dubai. His unique blend of illusions, infused with Middle Eastern culture, set him apart in the entertainment world.

From 2005 to 2010, he performed at numerous festivals and events across the UAE. His close-up magic and large-scale stage illusions wowed audiences, earning him a devoted following. But it wasn’t just live performances where he made his mark—television soon came calling.

A Rising Star in the Media

In 2010, Moein made his television debut on Sama TV, captivating audiences with his incredible illusions. His performances resonated deeply, leading to appearances on renowned networks such as MBC, Al Arabiya, CNN, and BBC. These platforms introduced him to a much wider audience, solidifying his reputation as the leading magician in the Middle East.

His charming personality and ability to blend mystery with entertainment made him a sought-after name, not just in the UAE but globally.

Magic Beyond Borders: Performing for the Stars

Moein’s magic transcends cultures and social classes. He has performed for some of the biggest international celebrities, including Hollywood legend John Travolta and boxing icon Mike Tyson. Even WWE superstars like John Cena and The Miz have been left speechless by his illusions.

Yet, despite his encounters with the rich and famous, Moein finds equal joy in performing for everyday people. He believes magic is a universal language—one that has the power to inspire, unite, and bring joy to everyone, regardless of their background.

“Seeing the wonder in people’s eyes, whether they are celebrities or laborers, is the real magic,” Moein says.

Building a Magic Empire

In 2015, Moein expanded his passion into a business by launching his own line of magic products. These included beginner-friendly magic kits designed to inspire young enthusiasts in the UAE and across the GCC region. His goal was simple: to make magic accessible to everyone and encourage the next generation of illusionists.

A year later, Moein ventured into the world of mentalism, adding mind-reading and psychological illusions to his repertoire. His performances evolved into something even more extraordinary—blurring the lines between magic and reality.

The Unexpected Journey to WWE

Moein’s career took an unexpected turn in 2017 when he joined MBC Action as the host of “WWE Wal3ooha,” a weekly Arabic show covering the latest in WWE entertainment. Co-hosting alongside Nathalie Mamo, Moein provided exclusive interviews, match highlights, and behind-the-scenes stories to wrestling fans across the Arab world.

His charismatic presence on screen made him a fan favorite, proving that his talents extended beyond magic. He had successfully positioned himself as not just an illusionist but also an entertainer capable of captivating diverse audiences.

Pushing Boundaries: The Next Chapter

Never one to settle, Moein constantly pushes himself to new heights. He is currently perfecting new, groundbreaking illusions, including levitation acts and advanced mentalism techniques.

“Magic is more than just tricks,” he explains. “It’s about creativity, practice, and constantly challenging yourself to do what others think is impossible.”

His ultimate goal? To redefine magic in the Arab world and inspire future generations to pursue their dreams—no matter how unconventional they may be.
