TCS Inaugurates New Office in Oman, Strengthening Middle East Presence
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT services and consulting company, is set to inaugurate its new country office in Oman on February 24, 2025. This strategic move aims to enhance TCS’s footprint in the Middle East and Africa region.
Sumanta Roy, President and Head of the Middle East and Africa business region at TCS, announced the upcoming inauguration during a global conference in Riyadh. He mentioned that while the office had been operational for a few months, the formal inauguration is scheduled for late February. The Indian Ambassador to Oman has been invited to grace the event.
Historically, TCS has served Omani clients through partners and other channels. The establishment of a full-fledged office in Oman signifies the company’s commitment to the Omani market and its intent to provide direct services to its clients in the country.
TCS has a significant presence in the Middle East and Africa, employing nearly 10,000 individuals across the region. These employees hail from various countries, including India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, and South Africa. In Riyadh alone, TCS employs about 3,000 people. Notably, the company operates a women’s center in Riyadh, employing approximately 700 Saudi women. This center, which started as a BPO, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
TCS’s journey in the Middle East spans over 25 years. With the inauguration of the Oman office, the company is further solidifying its presence in the region. TCS operates in all the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and has a footprint in southern and eastern Africa. However, it has yet to establish a presence in northern and western Africa.
In Saudi Arabia, TCS has offices in Riyadh and Dammam. The company employs between 5,000 to 6,000 people serving the Saudi market. Approximately 2,000 of these employees are based in India, while the remaining are split between Indian and Saudi nationals within the country. Women constitute about 40% of TCS’s workforce in Saudi Arabia.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, TCS demonstrated resilience by retaining its workforce. The company did not lay off any employees during this challenging period, underscoring its commitment to its staff.
The inauguration of the Oman office aligns with TCS’s broader strategy to expand its global presence and cater to the growing demand for IT services in the Middle East.
